Deep in the fine print, the AOL contact agreement states they can only offer refunds of 90 days of your account if a complaint/notice has been made to them on said account.
What happened to me was that I cancelled my membership to AOL in 01/01 but was continually charged a montly fee.in December when I noticed this, I made an inquiry to their billing department (after being bounced around by 4 or 5 departments). After I stated my case, they only gave me a refund for 2 bills charged to me because I was only charged twice within the 90 days when I made my complaint.
What happened to the money I was charged between 01/01 and 10/01? They told me they "couldn't do anything about it" although the rep told me they saw no activity on the account, and didn't have a cancellation in their system. Pretty convienient.
