I noticed a charge of $9.95 on my bank statement that I didn't authorize. I called the phone number that appeared next to the charge and got a message that the number was invalid. I found a number on the Internet and reached a representative. She said she'd refund the money and cancel the membership for some subscription service I supposedly ordered by clicking a pop-up while on classmates.com.
I assure you I did not click on any pop-up as I've got pop-ups blocked on my system. I decided to investigate further and found that many other people experienced the same problem with this company. The charges kept appearing on my statement.
I called SimpleEscapes again and my request for refund was denied. I asked for her to provide information about my subscription in writing and she refused. I asked to speak to a manager; she said she was a manager and that she was not going to refund my money and the person hung up on me. I filed a complaint with my bank, classmates.com, ftc, etc.
How awful to read everyone's stories about this crazy firm. Can't someone stop this!
