I signed up for a personal trainer in Gold's Gym, and had 3 different trainers in 3 visits. The others had been fired, the trainers would say.in any event, I didn't wish to continue the service, as I didn't see any value in it. These trainers were doing things that were against every valid bit of training advice I had ever received.
I called the 1-800 number that I had been given at the time of signing (NOT something that's generally given, I understand now) to inform them that I wished to cancel the service when it ran out. The phone never rings, just goes straight to voice mail. I never received a call-back, however I was lucky enough that the person who signed me up had written the address of Beyond Fitness on a sticky-note.
I went to the business location and walked in the office. They were very upset to learn that the person who signed me up also gave me their address, and they were definitely not happy to see an actual customer in there office. When I told them how often I had called (for weeks on end, every single day, multiple times per day) and that no one had ever returned my call, they said that the "customer support person" was in the back, and that I couldn't see her.
Long story short, they agreed to cancel the payments, I signed a personally written letter that stated the terms of the cancellation, and had the rep sign it as well. Hope this helps people. At $200 per month, it might be worth a trip down to Atlanta to walk in their office if you're not getting any help.
