I purchased a package for 4 weeks of fasting at Tanglewood Fasting Center from a college student who decided that she did not want to use the package since the owner, Loren Lockman would not refund her money. The total cost was $2400. The student desperately needed the money so I purchased it from her instead of buying it directly from the fasting center. Even though the student paid Loren the full price, she let me buy it from her for $1200 which I paid. Loren told me that if I gave him the $1200 that he would make sure that the student got it. We all agreed, the agreement was confirmed in writing. I also, did alot of promotional work for Loren Lockman and set up a speaking engagement for him and provided room and board for him in exchange for an additional week of fasting. The written agreement stated that I had 5 weeks that needed to be used in a 3 year time period.
After I purchased my plane ticket, I contacted Loren to secure a date to use 2 of the 5 weeks of fasting. He informed me that he was evicted and no longer was at the fasting center in Panama but had moved it now to Costa Rica. I did not feel this was fair as he did not disclose that he did not own the property where the fasting retreat was held and that there could be a possibility that he would move. A matter of fact, he told me that all the money that he makes goes into the center and that he does not even make a salary. I never would have purchased 5 weeks of fasting at a place that I had never been to before as I had fasted at Tanglewood in the past. The new place did not have all things the last place had i. E, TV, internet, etc. A matter of fact he said there maybe some construction going on. There was no website, pictures, or anything to see and I felt very uneasy about going out of the country to an unknown place. This place certainly did not have the value of what I thought I was paying for the fasting center in Panama. I expressed my dismay with all that I have written here to Loren but still decided to stick to the terms of the agreement. He told me to wait a week to contact him as he wanted to decide if he wanted me to come there as he felt I was bad energy for expressing my opinion (although he teaches a course in radical honesty) and that I was not "coachable" I informed him that if he felt that way, he should have made that known BEFORE we had an agreement and BEFORE I did promotional work for him and provided him room, board and transportations to his events. I informed him that we have a written agreement and he said that he has the right to change it and that I was not invited to take part in the 5 weeks of fasting that I had purchased and traded. That he had alot of things to pay and when he could he would pay me half of what the student paid him ($1200) back to me. I told him that accepting a 1/4 of the value was not something I was willing to accept. That I would accept the value of what a 5 week package would cost but he was not will to accept this offer and terminated the agreement that we had on his own.
So buyer beware when dealing with this man as you may not know if he will move his location before you use your package and therefore not know what you are getting, or even know if he will honor your agreement because if you make him angry he will find a reason to deviate from your agreement and you may never get your $ back. I have yet to see him ever refund anyone and the sole purpose of why I bought the package from the student and not him directly. She had to use the package or lose it as he would not refund her $ and desperately needed it for college, and somehow thinks it is fair to refund me half of what she paid him.
I have also fasted at his retreat in the past so if he thinks I am not "coachable", why would he accept a trade for me to promote him and let me buy a 4 week package from someone.
Buyers, please do not ignore what you read about him on the internet as I did and now I am another victim. There is a reason why his retreats are less expensive but in the long run you could set yourself up to lose more money..
