I am Speechless

I was speechless; but someone has to know. About 6 months ago, I had a baby boy at the Inova Fairfax Hospital, Virginia. A technician came to my room and took the baby to have a hearing screen test done. This lady worked for Pediatrix Medical Group and she was clear about that. On January 21 (little less than 6months later), I received a bill from the company for $120.55. After calling my insurance, the agent told me that Pediatrix was charging me for a device. I explained (in vain) that my son did not need any device. The agent told me that I needed to file a claim with my insurance and they would look into it.

A few minutes later, I decided to call Pediatrix. Their customer service was disasterous. The gentleman that answered was atrocious. He was short with me and extremely abrasive. Even though the bill I received was the first one I received, the comapny was charging me a $5.00 late fees. When I attempted to explain, he immediately stated that I had to pay the late fees no matter what! I asked him what device was his company charging for. He could not answer. Reasoning with this gentleman was impossible. When I told him that had already filed an appeal with my insurance, his response was: "whether you pay or not, a $5.00 late fees will be assessed to your account every month." I could have sworn that he was enjoying the pain he was inflicting on me. Money is very thight lately. Since My newborn came to this world, the medical bills have not stopped. I am a struggling man. But with the grace of God, we will make it.
