Soo! I hurt my knee an its been a little over a month now. (Swollen, shooting pains, can't run, kneel, nothing) And i'm only 23. I went to one hospital an the ER doctor did not know what was wrong, he took xrays, but they didn't show anything, an then sent me on my way. (An I had to ask for crutches)
About 3 weeks later i went to Broward General Medical Center. Same symptoms. The nurse i had was very nice, but the doctor didn't pay any attention to what was wrong at all. I told him i already had xrays taken but he ordered them anyway an found nothing. I told him I need an MRI, the Doctor proceeded to tell me." We don't give MRI's on the knee, only on the back". Well we all know that isn't true
I don't have insurance and i do think they treated me this way because of that fact. I just called an spoke to seven different people that were very eager to get me off the phone! An they told me I need a prescription in order to get an MRI, I wonder if that's what they tell all the home less people that come in for medical treatment.
And the nurse on the phone actually told me that what i consider pain or an emergency they may not. That's really who I want treating me!
They also told me to go through this insurance agency called, M.O.P.E.D. They told me i have to wait 3 months just to see, if I could be approved.
So it's safe to say I haven't gotten any help from any of our South Florida Doctors at Broward General Medical Center. An you know it's scary, to think you get treated this way for a knee injury. I couldn't imagine how other people get treated who have more serious problems an who are in worse pain. Because it's not right, an it's inhumane.
