I am writing this report hoping to prevent at least one person from having a never ending headache on their hands - with legal trouble to boot. Also to let those out there dealing with these same companies to know that you're not alone.
Here are the "insurance companies" I am complaining аbout: Beech Street Corporation, Careington, Markel Insurance Company and Phoenix Insurance Company "Chief Executive Officer's Club."
To explain why I am reporting this: First of all, I am someone who was born with major medical problems and due to the awful healthcare system, am unable to be insured by anyone. All of the companies known to man I have applied to, and they all denied me coverage. A family member, thinking that they were helping me, received a phone call from a number in Nevada. They claimed to be from Fidelity insurance. They were offering a health insurance policy for a reasonable monthly premium. The family member signed me up without my knowledge of it at first and that's when this nightmare began. Obviously, it was a major insurance fraud scam. The phone number calling from Nevada I traced back to a Sprint cell phone number. Many different people called, but most all of them had a Nevada number. They always also claimed to be from Fidelity. When I received the "insurance cards, " it claimed I had a "CEO plan." Beech Street was the supposed issuer and it was underwritten by Phoenix Insurance Company. The pharmacy card was from AIM Rx and the hospital card was called Careington. Not knowing at first that this was a scam, I was presenting these cards to doctor's offices and the hospitals I had to be admitted to. About 3 months after using the cards, I started getting tons of calls that claims were not being paid and that when they tried to contact Beech Street, no one would return their calls about getting paid. Finally someone at Beech Street did call back and said they had no knowledge of me and that no claims had come through there in my name. So basically I not only paid monthly premiums to these scam artists but also had to wind up paying for every medical bill I had submitted as a claim. "Fidelity" still harasses us with constant phone calls almost every day and they became hostile when I informed them that I knew what they were up to and that I was going to sue. I've been told now that my social security number has been compromised and that I must speak with the state Attorney General's office for investigation since this is both federal and state fraud. It is a huge mess and I hope no one else has to suffer through it.
Starting with Beech Street: According to a phone call made to them, they're not actually an insurance company. They claim to be only a pricing company. However, the insurance card I received had their name on it as an insurance and the policy was supposedly underwritten by "Phoenix Insurance." When approached with this information, Beech Street claims that they have no knowledge of Phoenix, that they've never done business with them and that they have never heard of me and don't know why I have a card with their name on it. I don't have proof that they were aware of this fraud but I have a hard time believing that they were unaware of this going on - where other fraudulent companies were using their name on their fake insurance cards. It makes it even harder to believe when I read comments online about customer's experiences with Beech Street and how they are about as dishonest as anyone could possibly be. Just recently on Beech Street's website homepage they have added all the company's names that they are not affiliated with. This information was not present at the time the original sign-up occurred.
Phoenix Insurance Company: Apparently they don't even exist at all because we have been unable to find any information whatsoever. There is no phone number, nothing at all about them. This whole plan was supposedly a CEO plan through them. When speaking with the caller from "Fidelity, " after this whole mess became obvious, they claimed that they were duped into believing they were real as well but now realize it was a fraud and they tried to apologize for any inconvenience. (I think identity theft is a bit more than an inconvenience!) That's when they sent me this new card and claimed this next one would be legit (which I turned down... But they still billed and sent it anyway)...
It was called Markel. I have no idea who this company is either. But that's who this second insurance was supposedly with. I finally had to call my credit card company and tell them not to allow any more payments to this company since they were thieves and would be reported to authorities. Even though I never authorized this change in policy, they wouldn't even let me cancel it!"Fidelity" kept giving me excuses as to why they couldn't do that for me. Basically I had to threaten them with lawsuits in the end to get anything done.
I would have never signed up for this if it had been me but since a family member did this on my behalf trying to help, this is what has now happened as a result. I'm here to warn people — most phone calls claiming to be an insurance company, whether it's auto, health, home, life, etc. Is most likely a scam. Legitimate insurance companies will be able to prove their legitimacy and you'll be able to find plenty of documentation online about them and will be listed with the Better Business Bureau. Please do your research and don't allow yourselves to become victims of such evil people. They often try to target those like myself who are too ill to be insured by any other means and they always make it sound too good to be true. You know the saying - "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is." As for the companies listed above - stay far far away from them at all costs. If they call you, HANG UP! As I mentioned, it seems they usually call from a Nevada number on the caller ID. If you're in the same boat as me and you've already been ripped off by these people, you need to call your state Attorney General's office and report this crime to them. They will let you know what needs to be done next. You can also pursue a legal fight to try and get your money back. We need to fight back and shut these people down for good. Good luck!
