This started when I joined LA Fitness at the end of February. They recommended their on site training company Body of Change. After speaking to the manager and given 2 free sessions I decided to join for 1 year. They presented themselves as experts and promised to get me in shape with 64 1 hour sessions. They said the sessions were 1/2 hour of weights and 1/2 hour of cardio. This should have been my first clue. The sessions are only half an hour.
The half hour of cardio is on your own. Unfortunately I didn't through more than 3 sessions without getting badly hurt. However trying to discuss this with the company has become my worst nightmare ever. The regional manager finally called me back and offered extra trainings to equal my medical bills. That was unacceptable to me and I cancelled my contract. According to their contract I have the right to do that for 50% without a reason.
I however, thought I had a very good reason. I even offered to let them keep the original $300.00 that I gave them if they just let me out of the rest of the contract. This would have been more than fair to a reputable company. There is nothing reputable about this company. I disputed the original charges with my credit card company. Even though I lost that dispute they turned the charges over to Affilliated acceptance corp. Which means I have now been double billed. I was sent a letter from a customer service supervisor acknowledging my cancellation and given a termination fee of 630.00. I have called this supervisor at least 6 times but she refuses to return my calls.
LA Fitness has tried to help but they insist this company leases space from them and they are two separate companys. I would hope when Body of Changes contract is up LA fitness will reconsider their affilliation. Body of Change can do nothing but hurt them and I don't believe they deserve that.
