LA Fitness & Body Of Change ripoff personal training $3,000

Since February of I have gone round and round being humiliated and lied to from employees at both LA Fitness and Body of Change and still do not have restitution, and no one will acknowledge my complaint. I just found a website usacomplaints.com that shows many other people have had similar problems but looks like mine is the largest amount of money being ripped off.

I just found a letter that stated an address in Irvine CA. I will send them a certified letter with receipt request and see what happens. You cannot find out anything about who owns LA Fitness. I tried even sending a letter to England because they told me they were the CEO's over there. They just responded back and said they are a separate entity. Do you have any other suggestions on what I can do?

On Saturday, August 7, I met Ruben and Jason (Sales/Trainers) while working out at LA Fitness in Waterford Lakes, Orlando, FL. We sat down and discussed options for obtaining personal training sessions. After deciding my best option would be to sign up for unlimited visits for 1 year. The cost was $2,900.00 and could be made in two installments one at the time and then the rest in one month. That's what I paid for. They told me I could work out any day with any trainer just call up and make an appointment.

I went in on Sunday and was measured, weighed in, and had a body fat analysis taken. They (being Ruben and Jason) told me because I had paid in advance I had special privileges and could book 3 weeks in advance and had priority over other clients because I paid in advance and also because I have the platinum membership at LA Fitness which not many people have.

I started working out with different trainers for hour sessions. One day Ruben told me to try Kevin, so I did. I continued to work out with Kevin mainly because he was the only one there that knew what they were doing and I started to finally see some results. I continued to work out with him until Body of Change came in and supposedly bought out the existing contracts from LA Fitness, but not mine.

One day Kevin told me I am not in the system and I need to call some girl to get a PIN so he could log me in. He provided me the number and I tried it several times leaving messages each time. I never received a call back in 3 weeks. Since that time around the end of January I have been denied my training sessions. Kevin told me Body of Change was told my contract was no longer in effect and that I had exhausted all my sessions and I can no longer work out. He told me he was surprised. He was also told that I had unlimited visits and acted accordingly. He said he was really sorry but they are not paying him for me and he can't work out with me any more.

I confronted Jason and Ruben and asked what was going on. They told me same and if I wanted more training I had to sign a new contract and pay again. I am now out a half a year of training (valued at $1,500) that I was promised. At that time they would not provide me their copy of the contract. A few days later they gave me a fake copy of a contract that was a standard contract that they said I signed which had the 52 sessions @ 50 minutes each but did not have my signature page. I told them that is not what I signed and I would like the original with my signature.

I was told it was in some warehouse in California. To date I am still waiting for that I also asked them if that was the case then I would like proof of the exact dates and how long each session was that I had used up. I still have not received that either. As far as I am concerned once the trainer changed my time spent with him they breached the contract. I was also told by Dave (from Body of Change) it is not corporate policy to provide customers a copy of their contract. I know that is not true and if it is that's not good business practice.

Next I tried to discuss with John, one of the Sales guys same. I started to question him as to what types of contracts LA fitness had at that time. He told me they did have one for unlimited visits for 1 year which is what they told me I was getting and what I signed up for. To date, Body of Change is still not honoring what LA Fitness promised me, they have not produced a copy of the contract with my signature, and have not provided proof of any dates and times I trained with LA Fitness trainers.

In my estimation, LA Fitness owes me for the 6 months of training sessions I was never allowed to finish ($1,500). This was all done on my credit card.
