I enrolled in CHBA [Consumer Health Benefits Association] in Dec. 2008. For several reasons [mainly that my dr. Would not accept it] it became apparent that I was not going to be able to use this plan and so at the end of Feb. 2009, I cancelled my policy with them. I could not reach them by phone, so I faxed them the cancellation. They never confirmed it. I tried many times to call them and was always placed on hold. After several minutes their recording would say that it was after business hours [even though it wasn't] and would disconnect my call. CHBA again charged my Discover Card for the March premium, so since I had already cancelled their service, I put that charge into dispute. DiscoverCard sided with CHBA because I had no proof that I had cancelled them.
Once again, CHBA charged me for April. I finally got one of their reps on the phone. She said she would cancel my policy, but I would have to pay for March & ApriL & she hung up again without giving me a cancellation number. I am forced to pay for March & April, and DiscoverCard told me that the only way to stop CHBA for continually charging my account every month is to cancel my Discovercard - which I did. Don't make the mistake of enrolling in this company because it is nearly impossible to cancel them.
