Personal Training Automatic Withdrawal Rip-off

After joining Urban Active, (I pre-paid membership and locker service for my son and myself) I made the mistake of signing up Automatic Deposit for Personal Training at $159 per month. I prepaid the first two-months, with the understanding that I had 10 more payments to make auto deduct. I stated at sign-up that I wanted PT in the early morning, before work hours (5-6:30).

From the beginning service was terrible for personal training — the PT stood me up four or five times in a row in Jan/February (I never received an apology) after numerous calls to the manager, I was told "it was difficult to find trainers that early in the morning." After the second trainer left town 3 weeks after she began with me, I gave up and figured I'd ride it out until October when my 12 months were up. Despite my regular gym usage and prepayment of membership, and their lack of provision of the agreed upon PT service, they continued to charge me beyond the year.

Like another writer, the management made it clear my concerns were unimportant. Five months later I am still fighting with them. I am incredulous at their poor customer service and misleading practices. Someone needs to protect the consumer here. They may have gained $600-1,200 of un-deserved funds from me, but they have lost thousands more of my future patronage, and I am telling everyone I know not to join Urban Active — or certainly not to sign any agreements for automatic withdrawal. What a lose-lose.
