I had called several places to see about getting hair extensions done because I am on a tight budget. On craigslist, I saw that Salon Innovations by Si was doing a holiday special that they extended until the new year. The set price was $150 which included:
-Hair
-Application
-Cut and Style
I even had my boyfriend on speaker phone when the owner, Vonda, quoted $150 for the service. She told me for a full head of extensions, it will be $150. I told her how excited I was because other places charge $150 per row of hair! I was also told that they had the hair in the color black.
So I arrived, and she took a look at my hair and informed me that the stylist would be doing my hair. She asked if I wanted him to texturize it to make it blend, or if I wanted it to be thick like hers. I told her THICK of course!!! So she said, okay let me grab another bag of hair. She said, "We don't have black so he is going to dye it all to make it match for you!" I was so thankful. She did not stay during the time of my appointment.
The stylist was very good and put a lot of effort into my hair. He asked, "What price did she quote you?" I said, "$150". He replied, "Okay that is what she told me, just checking." He finished up the extensions and dyed it all over. As we were waiting for the dye to set, Vonda called him. He got off the phone and said, "Since we used to bags of hair it is $300 plus $59.99 for the color."
I was outraged and he called her back and she decided to come into the store. I was upset and crying and had the stylists on my side who all tried to talk to her.
She came back and said that I have to pay. I called my boyfriend and he called the police. She said that if my boyfriend came, she will call the police and tell them he is an "irate male who is a threat to she and her daughter." Basically all the police could do is mediate the argument. The case is a civil matter. While waiting for both my boyfriend and the police to arrive, she tried to rush me, telling me I need to pay because they close in 10 minutes. I said she can wait. The stylists, who were sympathetic to my situation, were forced to leave (by Vonda). She kept rushing me to pay and I said I was going to pay the price she quoted me.
My boyfriend arrived and she locked me inside the salon. She said, "If you unlock that door, it would be bad for you." She denied it to the police of course. She told them that my boyfriend came "running up in here like a demon". HAHAHAHAAA! When she locked the door? She didn't let him inside. So I argued that and she said, "I meant in his car".
Also when I called the cops, she started added more charges to my bill and said, "You could have done this the easy way. Now I am going to make you pay $379.99."
Basically what it came down to was that I could pay $150 only if I agreed to have half my hair removed. She demanded to do it right then and there questioning my credibility. One of her stylists came back inside with here daughter. I asked her if my hair is going to look stupid now. Vonda said, "No she is not going to talk to you." They stylist replied "No I think it will be okay." Vonda said, "You keep this up I am going to charge you the extra $150, and then you can call the cops." (This was after the police had left).
All in all, I left with half my hair, but at least I didn't pay that woman $380.
Do not go to salon innovations. The stylists are good, but they have no control over that crude and lying owner ripping you off!
