I went to Affordable Dentures on March 7 to have my teeth pulled and dentures put in the same day. I filled out the required paperwork and noted that I had taken Fosamax.
I was eventually called into the office and they did an x-ray and took impressions of my mouth. Later the dentist, Ms. Patrick came in and immediately informed me that she did not feel confortable pulling my teeth since I had taken Fosamax in the past and she didn't know if it would be safe.
I was led back to the front desk and referred to an oral surgeon they recommended to find out if it would be safe to pull my teeth. I called on my cell phone from there and couldn't get an appointment until 6 days later.
The oral surgeon told me within the first minute that it was perfectly safe to pull my teeth and I was charged $80.00.
I called Affordable Dentures the next day (a Friday) and told Dot (the woman behind the front desk) what the oral surgeon said and she sarcastically told me that Dr. Patrick didn't have to preform services on anyone she didn't want to and I then informed her that I wanted a refund. I had already paid in advance the sum of $1260.00. She told me I would have to come into the office to get my refund.
On Monday I went to get my refund only to find out that they wanted to keep $460.00 because they had already made a set of temporary dentures for me. Not too bright considering they didn't know if it was safe to pull my teeth. But they want to charge me for them even though I couldn't wear a denture since my own teeth were still in my head. Not to mention they looked like baby teeth. My answer was a firm NO.
I called my credit card company immediately upon arriving home to dispute the charge. This started four months ago today. I am being rebilled by Affordable Dentures. They refuse to refund all of my money. I have no x-ray, (they told me to give that to the oral surgeon). They pulled no teeth and expect me to pay for the temporary denture that I couldn't use because they didn't pull my teeth.
My credit card company is putting the charge back on because the dentist won't agree to the refund. Total insanity!
In the meantime, I obtained the services of a "real" dentist and had my teeth pulled and dentures made that look fantastic.
At least I will look decent when I take them to court!!
