Charged my bank account $29.89 without my consent

I received my bank statement and $29.89 was charged to my account. I have never heard of this company. I called the phone number and only received an answering machine. Left several messages, but did not get a return call. I called my bank and they cancelled my debit/credit card and reversed the charges. I will have to fill out some paperwork, but it seems that it will be taken care of. How can this company get away with ripping so many people off???
