Complaint / Review
Hadia Ashraf, M.D
Nice Dr., Scary Staff

Today I made my last visit to Dr Ashraf's office after three years of trying to come to terms with the fact that even though I love the doctor, she is not in control of her staff and that could put my health into jeapardy.

First of all I would like to agree with what the previous complaint had said about the $15 charge no matter what the form being ridiculous. No person should have to pay just to have a prescription written on top of paying their office co-pay and their prescription co-pay. It shouldn't matter what insurance you have. Somebody is pocketing that money.

A week ago I went into my doctors office after having gone to the ER the previous evening because I was in the midst of passing kidney stones. I had already gone to the urologist before the ER and he told me if I could not control the pain at home to go to the ER or my Primary doctor and get admitted for pain management. The ER sent me home with the understanding that I was to see my primary the next day.

When I explained my situation to Dr. Ashraf's main nurse she told me that "I couldn't be admitted" because the hospital was too full right now and when I pushed that I really needed to see my doctor she told me I couldn't because Dr. Ashraf had an appointment that afternoon and she didn't want to ask her because she didn't want to get yelled at. Now instead she told me she didn't have any appointments until today (a week later) and gave me a prescription for Darvocet, which amazingly appeared without my doctor knowing about it.

Today I showed up for my appointment and before I could even sign in the receptionist rudely told me that I should probably go and do some errands because they were very busy and she had no idea when I would be seen. I told her that I had an appointment and she snapped at me that I was just "worked in", that they are a very busy Dr's office and that they are "helping people." What a joke! After an almost 3 hour wait I finally got to see the doctor.

Now I understand that the concept of the fees for the forms are supposed to be to cover administrative time and costs, but what about the waiting time for the patients that continually have to wait for doctors whose staff has no clue in how to schedule a doctor properly (Minus the occasional emergency of course). And what about a courtesy fee for those of us who have to put up with a rude staff My biggest fear in my case is that her nurse is writing prescriptions that she doesn't know about. How many others is this happening to??? This woman is not qualified and does not know my case.

That is why I am writing my story.
