For nearly 7 months, I have been battling with Blue Cross and their contracted pharmacy provider, Wellpoint, over several thousand dollars in fees that were never applied to my prescription deductible. This has resulted in our having to pay nearly $1,000 in fees that should have been covered.

When I spoke with Blue Cross supervisors, I was told that this was a computer glitch that affected more than 200,000 people (you do the math). They claimed a reimbursement check was pending. That was six months ago.

My recent conversations with Blue Cross eventually got me to a Wellpoint supervisor who claimed that they were still working to fix the problem, and then they blamed Blue Cross for not reporting charges.

Not only have we made no progress with the refund, I have continued to have to pay out of pocket for my prescriptions 6 months after meeting our $4,000 deductible.

It is obvious to me that this is a scheme to retain perhaps millions of dollars in consumer dollars. I happen to check my insurance payments carefully, but many people do not.
