Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida has terminated agents' contracts midway through a policy year in which they are to receive commission for business they placed with Blue Cross. They have taken money out of the agents' pockets who placed accounts with Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and are keeping the commissions for themselves. I can understand if a company wanted to terminate an agent's contract (for low production) but the agent is entitled to the first full 12 months' of commissions they wrote for the business they brought to Blue Shield. I will never write a piece of business again with this company if they ever offer production to agents they have terminated. I will also actively seek out businesses that have Blue Cross group health insurance policies and seek to replace their business with a better product at a lower cost.
Unfortunately the contract that Blue Cross makes agents sign is basically a "one way" contract in favor of Blue Cross. They deserve to be sued in a class action suit for their poor business practices.
