I went to this specialist for an evaluation for 2 problem teeth on 3/2/07 as instructed by my regular dentist. Found this doctor in my insurance plan and was told by phone receptionist I would be totally covered for this exam, but to bring panorama x-rays, as they are not covered.
As a result my insurance denied payment as a six month waiting period between exams had not passed. Had I known a comprehensive exam charge of $250 was being submitted to look at 2 teeth I would have avoided this dentist.
My second complaint is a recommendation for scaling of one tooth which I wasn't informed was another $250 procedure, again not covered by insurance.
The outcome was a recommended surgical procedure of which I was not told could cause permanent jaw numbness and more periodontal work on the other tooth. Out of pocket $500 with no results and a Small claims court case with the judge siding with the doctor.
This is just a warning to other naive patients with doctors slick enough not to discuss medical fees and with forms signed before they will see you stating you are responsible for fees not paid by your insurance and you give consent for the Dr. To perform procedures on you.
