I joined PetFirst Insurance it make sure that if anything happens to my newly adopted kitten I would be prepared to handle it. I was so happy to have this protection against anything serious going wrong.
As soon as I registered on the website I got a confirmation email saying my coverage began immediately at midnight and I was totally covers. They said I would receive a welcome pack in the mail within ten days.
Eleven days later I take my new kitten to the vet for her very first checkup. The vet noticed her stool sample was a little runt and suggested I keep an eye on her and report back any further problems.
Things seemed fine until nineteen days after the checkup Scout (my kitten) had blood in her stool and it was very liquidly. I immediately took her to the vet (having been covered by PetFirst now for over twenty days). The vet ran a series of very expensive tests and discovered Scout had a rare parasite and prescribed treatment for such.
I filed my clam with PetFirst the very next day. About a week alter I got an email asking for further documentation of Scouts medical history I responded saying I didn't understand because she was not even six months old and I had provided all the veterinary records. About a week from this email I got a letter denying my claim because the initial vet visit was within fourteen days of policy activation. This after being told I was immediately covered at midnight after paying for the policy.
This is clearly a company who is scamming people for money and then denying a claim that is over just routine care. They are not practicing ethically and robed me of my three months of fees.
I urge you NOT to use them and seek coverage for your pet elsewhere.
