Working in my wood shop I put a bad cut in my thumb. It was a weekend and I didn't know where I could get it sewn up, everything was closed, so reluctantly I went to the E.R. At Thorek.
After a ridiculous wait just to be triaged, I was finally given a fresh sterile pad to hold over the very deep cut and told to wait in the waiting area. I spent a few minutes in the waiting area, there were only a few other people waiting there. Then a woman comes and updates her sister seated near me, "They are just treating him now, " I hear her say.
"Pardon me, I ask, but how long have you been here?"
"Over three hours, " she tells me, and goes on to explain that her father was experiencing an inability to breathe, a severe shortness of breath.
OK, that's enough for me I decide with an eye on the clock. I want to get to the local pharmacy before it closes. I go buy iodine and antibiotic ointment. I went home and cleaned the wound out and sewed it up myself with a needle and thread.
Thorek is trying to collect $141.25, for telling me to go wait in the waiting room. Unbelievable, no description of any services provided, just "Balance Forward."
