Design Savers ripoff Plan Ripped Off SCAM

I want to confirm the reports listed and say I too was scammed. I was trying to find some insurance for my wife and I so we can start to have children. Neither of us have full time jobs, I'm still trying to graduate college and my wife is looking for a teaching job, which in Ohio is a difficult thing to do. So I'm on Anthem's website and somehow I'm talking with this company. I put in my phone number saying I would like to talk to a representative, still thinking it is Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield. I honestly have no idea how this Design Savers company contacted me.

So they tell me about the plans for my wife and I, maternal coverage, the 20%-80% payments at the doctors office and 50-50 for a specialist. I was thinking this is great coverage. They said we can go anytime we wanted for the first 5 visits to a doctor and we would be reembursed by them, so it's like they're encouraging us to go to the doctor. For some reason the red light did not flash in my mind! So, more worried about my wife being pregnant now, I decided to go for it thinking it was legit and still with Anthem.

They had me pay, I payed with my credit card thankfully and said coverage would start on the 15th of the next month. Again, no red light going off in my mind! I've had legit health insurance before and I know it did not work this way.

So, I was told that information would be emailed to me concerning my health plan and a packet would be mailed. I did not recieve the email so I called them up wondering if something went wrong. Still thinking it's Anthem I'm with. All of this time I had no idea what the name of the company was until I came out and asked. I just assumed again, Anthem. They told me it is U.S. Healthcare Plans. I asked someone else when I was transfered to another number and they said it is Design Benefits Incorp. I was transfered another time and was told I'm with Design Savers Plan. So I decided to research these companies and stumbled across this nifty website. I could not believe what I was reading on here. Most of it matched up. I too heard people hooting and hollering in the background. As I was signing up the Rep put me on hold several times and then came back on and was talking to me about Ohio (the weather etc.) as if we were in Iraq together.

So anyway, after reading your reports I cancelled my credit card so they could not charge me and I'm going to dispute the initial charge. I asked to cancel my plan and the manager at number 1-800-566-0078 Ext. 312 said I could not because I said I wanted it and I would have to wait until that month is over before I can cancel. Being easy going I didn't challenge him, but I will call again and dispute it. He told me to email the customer service telling them I want to cancel and for what reasons. I made up some story about my wife getting a job and we just got insurance through her school. He asked when that coverage starts and I told him right away. He said I've never heard of that before but ok if you say so. And I reiterated I want to cancel and he told me to contact CS after the month is over. (so they can charge me again for the second month) and he basically then hung up on me.

I'm basically disappointed and I feel like a fool for getting scammed. But I'm glad I caught it in time and I was not many months into it. I'm not even into my first month and they still won't let me cancel something that's not even in effect. So I guess I'm just worried that they could slap a lawsuit on me since I cancelled my credit card, I don't know. I also want my $333 bucks back from enrolling.

Here I thought I was taking care of my wife and protecting us incase we became ill or injured or she is indeed pregnant. I was dooped and I urge everyone else to contact the attorney generals office and let them know something needs to be done. Thank you.
