At the age of 33, I began taking the prescribed medication, CELEXA, which is classified as an SSRI or Antidepressant.
By the age of 35 (after approx. 24 months of using CELEXA) I had lost all the CENTRAL VISION in my right eye. Three Specialists have diagnosed this as PERMANENT AND IRREVERSIBLE VISION LOSS.
I was taking no other medication (prescribed or otherwise), had NO health problems and NO family history of Ocular Disease.
If you or someone you love is currently taking an Antidepressant or SSRI and have experienced vision loss, visual changes or disturbances, please see your eye doctor immediately. Medical help may be available to change or reverse your condition.
If you feel that the vision loss or change is related to your SSRI, please file a Report of Adverse Reaction with the FDA online and advise your Doctor.
