National Health Care Discount
Work at Home Scam! Illegal or not

I will be going to college soon, so I was in need of a job with flexible hours. While searching online for job postings, I had came across National Healthcare Discount, or NHCD.

The first thing I noticed was the job offer was via internet. I had immediately became skeptical. I never been a person to trust anything that comes from the internet. Yet, I was talked into giving it a try, so I applied. It didn't take long for me to receive a call from a recruiter. Her name was Allison, and she was very kind and very soft spoken, so much that it was hard for me to understand what she was saying. She didn't explain about the company just the benefits and pay. She had emailed me a number to call for my scheduled orientation.

I had missed my orientation and wasn't sure what I was going to do. Luckily a woman had called me from the company to reschedule. She even had sent an email for a code to get the training package (and the number to call for training) aswell as a reminder that $29.95 will be deducted from my account within the first week, but never explained why the withdraw. I called in for the orientation and was amazed how much other people where there aswell. I kept silent so I could concetrate on how the company worked. The woman giving the orientation had explain about the benefits and talked about personal situations on how the discount helped her. During her speech she talked about the monthly fee for using the discount which happened to be the same price as the amount they were going to take out. I was pleased to finally have a reason why the money was going to be taken out and even more so, when she said it the company was to pay for the fee to get it started and pay the first month. At the end of the orientation she told us we would get a called back from her, to see if we wanted to use the discount since it was optional to have it, and that we had five days to decide.

I had received my callback within a few hours and had told the woman I still needed time to think about it. I had then went online so I could get the training packet, as well sign the contract (which you had to sign first before you could download the training guide) When the contract appeared on my screen, I made sure to read everything. Thats when I finally saw what the withdrawn on my account would be used for. The telephone service they want you to use was to be automatically withdrawn each month. I had a problem with this since, I talked with my father and with the phone servive I had, there was no need to use the one that they offered.

I had not signed the contract. And even called Jennifer Grannan, who was to be my team manger, to tell her that I had a problem with the contract and could not attend the training because I couldn't get the training packet.

I never got a call back ever again. It hadn't bothered me, atleast not until I call my bank to check my account and there was an unauthorized charge. Now as I mentioned I am about to go to college and I have no money, thus the reason I was looking for a job. Since they took out the money from my account, I've became overdrawn and now I have overdrawn charges which makes me owe more than double the amount they took out. I called my bank and they told me to contact the company to get my refund. I had contacted the company and I am still awaiting a response, its been more than two weeks, but I am trying to be paitent.

Now, honestly I wouldn't mind that they took out what they did and do not want to refund my money if I had actually started to work for them. But I hadn't became an official employee since I never signed the contract and we never had contact since then.

So now I am wondering if it is legal for them to do that to me? I am young and don't fully understand my country's legal system. Oh, something unexpected came up just as I was filling this out.
