I was brought into the emergency room after a suicidal attempt, and I was greeted with nurses who made fun of me and laughed at me because I had attempted to overdose. I waited 6 hours in the ER and a nurse only came to check on me once or twice (and this isn't even a big hospital.)
Throughout my stay in the hospital, I was chided, harassed and made fun of since I was depressed and suicidal by the doctors and nurses. Also, the doctor pushed pills (which only made my depression worse) so he could get paid by the pharmaceutical company.
Since I had no insurance, I had to pay for the bill in full. UPMC dilly-dallied around and waited near the expiration time to tell me about charity care which I was denied.
This big-business conglomoration DOES NOT give a damn about their patients. They only care about money. DO NOT GO TO UPMC!!! Go to Jefferson or Mercy or Forbes instead! Fight corporate america!
