I purchased and installed a GE Hotwater heater in 2007 and this past weekend in 2011 it sprung a leak. It was a Saturday so I replaced the heater with another brand heater. I called GE on Monday to get this heater replaced under the 12 year warranty and they asked me what brand water heater I replaced it with. I asked what that had to do with anything and they said because I didn't replace it with a GE water heater it voided the warranty. So basically GE does not warranty their water heaters and will find any excuse to avoid their responsibility to their so called warranty. I guess their written word doesn't mean much! If you see the GE Logo, RUN!!!
