Ripoff giving false hopes and doesnt want to return money I worked hard fo

It begins with me getting a letter from them saying that they would be increasing the rates on international text messaging, and because of that i can terminate my contract early... Me having friends from another country cannot tolerate this, so i had my contract terminated... Went to a shop and had them terminate it..

So the guy asks me wether i wanted to keep my old phone number, which i thought was a good idea. So i went with tmobile... And so i was happy being able to talk to my friends...

A month later, i get my credit card bill and saw that they did charge me early termination fee. Went to verizon store... We spoke to customer service and all because they dont have an idea which letter im pertaining to... So with customer service... They denied sending out letters like that and demeanded for the letter. Which i didnt have at the time... So leaving frustrated i went home..

After looking through my stuff, i found the letter and showed it to them. Customer service had us fax the letter in and they told me theyre gonna be refunding me and expect a check on the mail 4-6 weeks from that time...

After what seemed to be forever! Still havent gotten it! So i come back to the store. Spoke with the people there and we contacted customer service again... Had us fax the invoice again... Promised me that theyre gonna try to make it faster since ive been waiting for forever... So they told me another 4-6 weeks...

2 months has passed... And sadly still nothing... So i called customer service... They told me that my refund is denied because i ported my number (which is the same thing as terminating) they even didnt let me know how my refund was going while i was waiting... They said they cant give me the refund because i ported it which supercedes the letter... But the letter doesnt say anything like that! How would customers know? We dont have an idea, they didnt give us that information!!! If i only knew i wouldve just gotten a new number if they let us know!!! They tell me this after waiting for months? When i needed the money the most? I know 175 dollars doesnt sound much to most people, but it does to a full time student like me who works just to get by paying tuition and all that...

In my opinion this should be considered fraud since they charged me for something i shouldnt have been charged for... How would i know that porting it would void that letter?
