I was recently looking for a used laptop on www.kijiji.ca. Came across an ad for a Dell XPS M1730 i7-2670 LAPTOP - $260? This is a ridiculously low price for a laptop of this quality and I immediately smelled the blood in the water.
I responded to the ad and received an email directing me to www.pegasus-shopping-center.ca to purchase the laptop. The web site looks legitimate and provides secure payment. I replied to the companies sale email address and asked them to provide me with a phone number or address or something tangible that I could verify that they were a legitimate company. After days they responded with nothing.
Their website indicates they have a warehouse in Dawson City, Yukon Territory. I emailed the better business bureau in Dawson City (population of around 1500) and they indicated that they have received a number of inquiries about this company and they confirmed that this company does not have a business license.
Of course, I did not make a purchase and immediately notified the administrators of the www.kijiji.ca website of the fraudulent ads. I also emailed the company and told them that I would be exposing them.
