Ripoff Fraudulent Billing Nextel

I ordered 2 phones and a "Team Share" service plan through Nextel's website on Jul. 12. My credit card was charged for the ordered amount and a confirmation email was sent with detailed charges included in the charges "Deposit Subtotal: $0.00"

On Jul. 14, I recieved my phones via Fed Ex carrier and called to activate the phones, there was trouble with the area code on one, and I was also not shipped accessories included in the "Team Share" plan ordered, so I ended up calling back 3-4 more times that day trying to resolve the issues.

Later that day my credit card was denied at the gas station. I called the credit card company to find that Nextel had made 7 unauthorized attempts at billng my account for a total of $607.48, a total of 3 attempts equalling $253.98 my card issuer actually completed (other charges denied).

I called Nextel and was told that those charges were for a deposit, $100 per phone ($200) and the $53.98 was a credit. No it wasn't. I told them I am not required a deposit, and those charges were not authorized. They continued to say that a $200.00 deposit is required, insulted me and my credit (which is good) and told me that I had authorized the charges, infact they went on to tell me that they didn't bill my card at all that the phones and deposit were paid by a cashier's check number 123456789-010.

This did not seem strange enough to them because their only solution was to transfer me to their cancellations department after they've already sent and activated my service that I had used both phones all day and they charge restocking fees on phones, charges to erase things you've programmed into the phones, they charge full price for any used air time, including calls to THEM, I would be responsible for the cost of shipping, and frankly I don't trust them that they would refund a penny to me. So I am stuck in a contract with a very scarey company, I have cancelled that credit card number and I will never give them another credit card number again.

What they have done is illegal, and I have found a few cases on the web where they have done the same and similar things to other people as well. They must be stopped.
