Two months ago I bought a Panasonic tape player from Circuit City and it suddenly stopped working - when I press play, the rollers do not move. I have just filed a formal complaint with the manufacturer and I'll keep you posted.
Before this I had a Sony walkman for 3 months when the fast forward and rewind buttons spontaneously got stuck - there's another report on this site of that happening. I just threw that one away and decided not to buy anymore Sony because of so many problems I've had with their other products.
