To all consumers who may be thinking about purchasing a new flat screen TV! Do NOT buy an Emerson from Walmart!
I made the mistake of buying a 19" TV / DVD combo in August (model# LD190EM1) which was bought primarily for use in a bedroom so, it got very little use maybe, an hour or so a day. It worked okay (though the volume was never great) until a few days ago. The standby light was on but, it refused to actually power on. I disconnected the unit from the power outlet to see if it would reset itself but, when I plugged it back in, nothing happened, it was dead!
I called the Emerson customer care helpline! 1-866-309- 8819 and spoke to a guy called Tyler, who basically told me since my TV was a few weeks over warranty, there was nothing they could do!
What happened to when you could buy a product and have it last more than five minutes? I have had TV's that have lasted many years but Emerson products obviously do not fall into that category.
Not being satisfied with "Tylers" response, I again called Emerson and spoke to a guy called Michael. He was very sympathetic and seemed to understand the nature of my complaint. He told me that there was a "glitch" with this particular model and agreed Emerson should fix the problem, rather than leave customers with a bad feeling about their products however, there was nothing he could do also. Having checked other website reviews on the internet regarding Emerson TV's, I have found there are many consumers like myself have fallen into purchasing Emerson's faulty products. I now have a TV that is barely over a year old and junked, though it probably was junk to begin with! It seems from other customer complaints, once your warranty has expired, so will the TV!
I appeal to any of you out there who are thinking today about buying a new TV. Do NOT buy an Emerson. Save your hard earned Dollar and buy something that will actually last!
