I am TDY in Iraq and I had my wife purchase a Sony Cyber-shot 3.2-Megapixel 2x Optical/3.2x Digital Zoom Digital Camera
Brand/Model: SON DSCP52. Their policy states 30 day hassle free return or exchange on everything exept digital cameras, radar detectors and a couple other things. Those items only get 14 days. "Due to the rapid changes in technology." They say.
The camera she bought had a blurry spot on the bottom left of all the pictures it had taken. Obviously a defect in the camera. Tried cleaning the lense to fix the problem a couple times. So when it came to the point that it had to be returned it was over the 14 days.
She didn't ask to return the camera for a refund or for an upgraded model. Just for a working camera of the same model. Their reason for the 14 day policy states it is due to rapid changes in technology. Well, what does returning a camera for the same model have to do with "rapid changes in technology"? Nothing. So the store should change this policy for the sake of the customer. Or make exceptions when returning defective equipment for the same model.
The only resolve they offered was to have it shipped to Sony for repairs. And they accualy charged my wife for the shipping. And sent her away without a camera to replace it. That was over a month ago and still no camera. The camera was purchased for the one reason of sending me photo of her and my daughter while I am out in Iraq. So much for that. Thanks for nothing Circuit City.
