We signed up for a 2-year cellular phone contract with Verizon. The plan was purchased through PerkSpot, an employee discount program. After five months of hassle from Verizon not applying the 17% discount, and refusing to make the discount retroactive since it was their employees who stated it would be active on day one, we canceled the contract, subjecting us to a $155 early termination fee per line. I had assumed this was to cover the cost of the "free" cell phones.
We are now being charged $200.00 each from Simplexity for the phones. We received several automated phone calls, but it was too fast to catch the number. I called Verizon, and they had stated the calls were from them and we might get more but not to worry about it since I'd contacted them and made a payment arrangement.
The first letter we received in the mail from Simplexity had the subject:
Final Notice, Action Required, Past Due Balance for Early Termination of Wireless Service #
We received no bill, and the phone calls were all automated.
This is a major rip-off. I hope Simplexity gets put out of business for such practices.
