My husband and I went to Best Buy to replace electonics that we had lost in a fire. We bought a couple of TV's and a Sony surround system. We bought the warranty at the urging of the cashier when we cheked out. We listened to her telling us that everything we purchased was covered, great we thought. 6 months later our surround system stopped working we took it in knowing that it was covered we were told that it would be a couple of weeks for them to look at it. I got a call a couple of weeks later to come in and get it. When we got there we were ignored for about 20 minutes and when we were finally waited on we were told that the system had liquid damage and was not covered under warranty and then they tried to charge us for looking at it.
We said first of all there was no way that liquid got inside of the Sony it had been in an enclosed cabinet from the day we bought it. The Geek brought it out I was shocked it has some white stuff on the side of it, a water mark that wasnt there, and the cord had some green build up on it. I asked what they did to it because that is not what it looked like when I brought it in. We were told that that is how they received it and they did nothing to it. We then talked to the manager (which was a waste of time) and got nowhere, when she told us that we would have to pay for them looking at it I told her to take it an shove it because they are the ones that cuased the extra damage and I wasnt sure what kind of game they were playing. I cant believe they can get away with this!
