I am a long time Apple customer dating back to their first MAC product. I was one of the people first to activate an Iphone and love it. I had the first generation and decided to purchase the 3G when it was through with the myriad of problems they had initially. So I get my new phone and less than a week later it stops responding to touch on the lower half of the display. So I take it to an apple store and wait the hour plus to see a technician. He confirms it is not working properly and gets me a replacement, so I take the replacement and from the start it had little quirks that I assumed were just part of the new 3g like a fickle volune button and screen locking intermittently. Well as time goes on (2 months) it has increased to more than quirks and the buttons are not properly fuctioning so I take it back to an apple store and get a technician who confirms the problems and then tells me I am without a warranty due to water damage! I can assure you my phone has never been anywhere near water let alone submerged as they claim. Upon further discussion with the Assistant Manager she tells me that I am taking the word submerged too literally as the indicator could be set off by 2—3 drops of water, I.E. Sweat from your ear while talking on the phone. Needless to say I am less than happy so she says oh well nothing I can do for you other than offer to sell you another unit for more than I paid for my useless 2 month old one.
I know my phone has never been submerged or exposed to water so I am certain this is a scam to sell more units and get around having to honor their warranty for these items.
