No digital sound trhu the HDMI connection

Because AT&T Uverse Mounted their support at my house on Feb. 12 2009 I've been worrying regarding the sound. I'd for connecting an alternate VISUAL CONNECTION TO BE ABLE TO GET THE PREDICTED SOUND. After several support calls that I contemplate where completed with exelency from the technitians. I still possess the same issues. Why I've to make use of an opticl link once the Cisco STB haqs an HDMI connection.incidentally the Movie signsl thru exactly the same HDMI CONNECION IS okay. Cheers
