Staples practices religious discrimination

I am looking for a job and inquired about a job to a male manager. I have plenty of experience in the field (5 years) and worked for a year and a half as a supervisor in another retail store selling technology. I also spoke with the male manager about the Copy Center as I have worked for a number of years in such a job as well. He encouraged me to apply for a job and so I did apply to Staples store #xxxx on 5/2/09 for a technology Sales Associate but was also open to the position in the Copy Center.

Then on 5/8/09 spoke with a female manager (xxxx) by phone (I called about 7:30pm to inquire on my application). She said that she wants open availability and filter out applicants that are not open to work all hours/days and why I had not been called back. I told her that I worship on Sunday, and she said that she requires open availability. I said that I could rotate Sundays, or work at a different time, but she refused and said that if hired I would probably be working 3-4 Sundays a month during the busy times, and 1-2 during the slow times. I said that I could not do that as I serve the Lord on Sundays and need top be in church doing that. I am able to work at different hours, but cannot work during church service.

I do not understand why she was unwilling to provide a accommodation and why she filtered out me based on that reason, but this is what I was told.

The law states its wrong to not provide a reasonable accommodation.

EXAMPLE 41
Blanket Policies Prohibiting Time Off for Religious Observance

A large employer operating a fleet of buses had a policy of refusing to accept driver applications unless the applicant agreed that he or she was available to be scheduled to work any shift, seven days a week. This policy violates Title VII to the extent that it discriminates against applicants who refrain from work on certain days for religious reasons, by failing to allow for the provision of religious accommodation absent undue hardship.[169]

I hope that Staples Corporate or someone can contact me and we can work this out.
