Never buy the extended warranty from circuit city!
I knew this as common sense today when I walked into Circuit City and purchased a new Compaq laptop computer which will be delivered to me hopefully within a few days.
I always say no to these things on principle because I've always heard they're total scams. SO - everything was fine and dandy between the salesperson and myself UNTIL I refused to purchase the extended warranty. He tried for several minutes to convince me to buy it, constantly changing his approach and trying to refute all of my sound reasoning.
Actually, at one point he began denying that he would receive any commission on it whatsoever - he was just recommending it out of concern! HOW ASININE. What am I a moron? No, he was. Finally, I just said: "STOP IT! This is NOT going to happen. I will never buy the extended warranty and if you say one more word about it, I'll walk out right now."
His eyes became very intense and crazed-looking as he glared at me for a few seconds. I actually thought he was going to leap at my throat. What a psycho. The rest of the transaction was an awkward, wordless affair which only proved to me what a scame these contracts are. They'd do anything to sell them to you. It wouldn't surprise me if somebody got hurt refusing these ripoffs.
