On Friday Jan. 9th 2009 as I was coming out of the bank, walking to my car, someone pulling in the parking lot, driving a maroon dodge minivan with a NY plate (ECX 3943) ask me if I was interested to buy a surround sound system.
The man showed me a well designed, flier showing the system selling for $3,698.00. And that price was also printed on the box.
I asked him were he got those, he told me that he had purchased a lot of those at an auction and that those were the last two he had. He then covered the 3 with one finger telling me he was willing to let it go for $698.00.
I asked him for a business card, which of course he did not have. I then asked him for some time, That I would call him to meet with him on that afternoon If I decided to buy it. (I was going to Google it). He told he he had no time and he was from NY and had to get back.
I told him that the only thing I could afford was about $400.00 but that I would have to get it from the ATM. He waited for me. I gave him the $ and we loaded the sound system in my truck. He then got in his car and took off like he was being chased.
When I got home I Googled Divinci DV-606 and cliked on usacomplaints.com. I read a couple of report on it. Opened up the boxes and noticed that the amplifier is rated for only 50hz VS 60hz.
I normally stay away form this kind of offer, which did append in the past. Please listen to that little voice in your head when it tells you that there is a big red flag and that you should stay away.
I did not, this time and lost $400.00. I did not yet tried to plug in the system. I am trying to find out if it is worth modifying it.
