DiVinci DV-606 suround sound Ripoff

Yesterday I was approached in the the parking lot of a mall near my house by two young men in a dark grey Jeep Cherokee with an incredible offer to buy a high-end DiVinci DV-606 sound system ($3,695 US MSRP) at a rock-bottom price. Their story was that they had an extra system that they could not return to their warehouse... Blah, blah, blah.

After negotiating, we settled on a price of $250 CAD, and I bought the system. However, when I started to investigate the DiVinci name on the Internet I came across all kind of information regarding it being a RIP-OFF. And I also discovered one instance where an electrical engineer reported smoke coming from the main unit.

I haven't used the system yet, and I'm going to be very careful when I plug it in.

But I believe I've been rip offed
