I was ready to buy a large and expensive LCD TV and had narrowed it down to Costco or Best Buy. They both have nice products and good return policies (Costco's is amazing) and I thought I would try one more place for the heck of it.
I had heard Video Only's radio ads where they claim to have the lowest prices and "great" customer service etc! They say "don't be sorry" by shopping somewhere else! Well I'm sorry as hell I bought from Video Only!!!
I found a TV I liked and the price was pretty good so I explained that I almost always bought at Costco because they had great merchandise, great prices and a "great" return policy if you needed to return the item. They also double your warranty just for buying there.
I mentioned all these things to the sales guy at Video Only and asked why I should buy from them instead and he told me that they have great product, great prices and a great return policy! I asked if it was the same as Costco and he said that the only diffeence is that instead of 90 days like Costco that thiers was 30 days. Otherwise the same! That is the "farthest" thing from the truth it turns out!
I liked the model they had so I bought it knowing that If it was too big for my place which was a real possibilty that I could return it. Nope! I got the TV home and very carefully took it out of the box and immediately realized it was way too big for my place. I called the next morning to mention that I wanted to return it and they said no chance. If you open the box or even slightly disturb the box it came in they won't return it. You can only get a store credit for the full amount! So if I wanted a smaller TV which I did and it was $1000 dollars less, I was stuck with a grand in store credit! They would not refund the difference! Period!
The point is that they decieve people by making you think they have a nice return policy but compared to almost every other electronics retailer theirs is horrible! They tell you that if you are unhappy for any reason within 30 days to bring it back, they just don't tell you that if the item is not factory sealed in the box still that you are out of luck. They wait untill you try to return it to tell you that very valuable information! If they had told me that when I was buying, I would have walked out and bought somewhere else! They don't want you to know that untill you have opened the box then they know they have you stuck!
I have talked to everyone in a postion of authority at that place and they all play dumb and say they are "surpised" I wasn't told about the return policy and that they have to stand by that sneaky policy. Once they set the hook on a sale they aren't gonna let you go or let you return something. My advice is "don't be sorry" and buy something at Video Only! They are all about smoke and mirrors!!
