I have never had a major problem with Verizon before. I had a couple of small problems with Verizon Wireless a while back, but those were solved relatively quickly. This time, however, is a different story all together. I am so stupified as to why Verizon cannot get things together.

I just moved into a new house with my significant other. We both decided we wanted Verizon FIOS to be our service provider as we could get Phone, Internet, and Cable for a pretty decent price. Plus my significant other's parents have it, and live a couple streets down. We figured it would be no problem getting it. Boy... Was I wrong! We went online a couple of times a month or so prior to moving to check if FIOS was available in our area. I distinctly remember it saying there was FIOS available, but I can't be altogether sure of that. A couple days before we moved in, I checked again for the availability online and to order FIOS. What do you know! FIOS isn't available in our neighborhood. Our land lord had told us he was pretty sure he had had Verizon FIOS when living there a year ago, but he again wasn't 100% positive. Well I don't leave anything up to the internet or human memory, so I call Verizon and ask them about it. They say the same thing, "FIOS is not available in your neighborhood". Ok, well whatever. Life could be worse.

So my significant other and I discussed our options. We decided to go with COX Cable (our only other choice for cable) and Verizon DSL with internet only (no phone line). Verizon offered DirectTV, but neither of us trust or like Satellite. So, with all decisions made, we order away. We did an online order for both COX and Verizon DSL. COX took about 1 1/2 weeks to get to our house, install a brand new cable jack in 1 room and digital cable in another room. They did a terrific job. Verizon... Well that's another story.

They took 2 weeks to get us our "Start Date". We ordered on August 1st and our Start Date for the DSL to be turned on was August 12th. Well that was a bummer, but Verizon is a big busy company. We understood. So they mailed us our DSL modem, and we set it up and turned it on on August 12th. No internet. We called Verizon that day and said it wasn't working. They troubleshooted with my significant other, but to no avail. They said to wait until the next day then call them back if it wasn't working. So we did. August 13th we called back. They said there must be a problem with the line, and they would send a tech out. That will be another 3 days on top of our time they have already wasted.

The tech came, and was nice enough. He was so nice in fact that he pointed out that not only did our house have a Verizon FIOS power system installed, but our whole damn street is wired for Verizon FIOS!!! The DSL line has also been cut, so it can't be used. After all this time, of them telling us that Verizon FIOS wasn't available! It made no sense. Well of course on Saturday, there is no one available from Verizon to talk to because all their local offices are closed and the outsourced calling lines won't help. So we wait until Monday and call.

I discussed our problem on the phone with the Verizon person, and they went through a couple of databases looking for whether our house was wired for it or not. Why must they look through these databases, when their own tech has already said we are wired as is our whole street? I will never know. The Verizon person then said, it would be 24 to 48 hours so they could get in touch with the engineers to find out why our street isn't on their databases. Whatever, we have waited this long... Why not wait longer. That was on August 18th. So now it is August 22nd, and the only word from them has been that they could come and fix our DSL. We DONT WANT DSL!!! Not when FIOS is available, and the tech that came to our house said that the DSL would be the slowest anyway. No thank you!

So, we will be calling them tonight and bugging them. This is the worst freakin' service I have ever had! I like to cut people breaks too, but this is unbelievable. Plus, they are making us wait while they fix their mistake when they should be coming over here and making it so we can use FIOS. Fix your damn database mistake later and give us some service! We will be viehemently trying to get some price relief with all the massive amounts of inconvenience they have caused us. We could have had 1 bill (including phone service!), and made life easy and made Verizon money. But no... instead we had to get a different Cable service (for which we are stuck in a year contract), and we can't have phone because it is to expensive beyond a bundle. I have never been more angry at a business in my life!
