Avoid this company at all costs! It goes by the name 86th Street Photo and Video and also Wisetronics.
I found this company via a search for GPS prices. I should have known the price was too good to be true, but I fell for it anyway. I received an email saying they were missing some of my billing info and I needed to call to complete the order.
I called and they said they were missing the credit card year of expiration. Funny, they had the month and I know I put both of them in. However, I wasn't feel well that morning so I was missing all the warning signs.
They proceeded to lie to me about accessories I needed to make the unit work properly and charged ridiculous prices (1000% is not an exaggeration) for those accessories. Again, I should have known better but I agreed to purchase some of these accessories.
When I contacted the manufacturer and realized I had been lied to about needing the accessories to properly use the unit, I called back and insisted they drop an item from my order. I spoke to Clark and he gave me a hard time but then said he would remove the item. Take a wild guess what I received in the mail 2 days later?
From there, it was just more lies, completely unresponsive customer service and offers to give me free things to sweeten the deal. At one point, they offered me a $30 rebate to keep the $180 item I had tried to remove from the order. Trying to get an acceptable resolution to the situation was akin to smashing one's head into a brick wall.
It didn't stop there, when the credit card company investigated the situation, they lied and even fabricated documents "proving" their story. I have never seen so blatant lies and behavior from a company. My story is still evolving, but with the large number of reports I have found on this company, I'm confident Citibank will decide in my favor.
Do yourself a favor and avoid this company at all costs. It's not worth the hassle to try to save a few bucks.
