Purchased a Toshiba 50" plasma tv (50hp66) 1/07 from BestBuy. This week, a loud pop was heard and it went blank. Called Toshiba and they had no knowledge of this problem. Called again and they suggested a: gas cell leak".
Called again and spoke with Patrick Willaims, CS supv and he again had no knowledge of any problem as described. As it is out of warranty, Toshiba can do nothing. I asked about the numerous complaints on the web for the identical problem and he said these forums as not valid and according to his information, this is an isolated incident. He said if there was a problem, Toshiba would immediately issue a recall. (note this problem exists with LG and Zenith plasmas as LG furnishes the computer boards for the three manufactures). Fax sent to Toshiba CEO 6/19. Await response while tv sits in the repair shop.
