I purchased a Sony LCD TV and Sony Blu-ray DVD on Nov 12. The sales person, Mr Ninan stressed we would get 3 rebates. He did this multiples times.
In filing the rebate forms, they all wanted original UPC codes from the packages, a clear imposibility. I copied the UPC codes and signed each copy attesting to the accuracy of the copy. I included a letter explaiing that 3 submissions were being made and only 1 of each UPC code was available, listing all three rebates in the letter. All three rebates were sent to different PO Box addresses in El Paso, TX.
I received a letter back from the free Blu-ray disks offer requiring I submit the original UPC code for the Blu-ray player. I did, following the directions in the letter.
I received a second letter from one of the two Sears rebates, saying my submission was denied because I was missing the original UPC codes. That letter provided a telephone number to call - 866-797-3277. I called and spoke with an agent, and then a supervisor. The agent told me the policy was only one rebate was allowed from the fulfilment center, and that all the rebates were handled by that same fulfilment center. I protested that there were three seperate PO boxes, and I had no way of knowing that the were all the same.
The supervisor came onto the phone call then. She explained that the Sony KDL-46XBR4/U2 television was actually excluded from the offer! She also explained that even if it was included, they would need multiple original UPC codes from both purchases. I asked how I would accomplish this, and she said I would have to buy multiple TVs and Blu-rays! She suggested I go back to the store and protest to the store manager.
Clearly I have been cheated.
