Under the terms of my Agreement with Direct TV I am obligated to maintain service for 24 months.
In section 1 of the agreement, the one on the website not one I signed, Direct TV says it has the right to cancel channels at any time for any reason. It also says that the customer can cancel his service if he doesn't like the change.
The catch is that Direct TV still wants to enforce their early cancellation fee regardless of how many or which channels it decides to cancel.
According to their representative they could cancel any number of channels they want, one, ten, a hundred, and the customer would still be required to pay a early cancellation fee if his service had not lasted for 24 months.
They sell a programing package with a selected channels that a customer reviews before purchasing, but then after buying the package the customer does not get what he purchased and must pay a penalty if he doesn't want to continue paying for the programming he no longer receives.
