Cricket company is very deceptive in their advertisements-no credit, no contract. Cricket is no better than the rest of other cellular companies. I have three complaints against them:
1. I bought a cricket phone and insurance after the sale rep misrepresented to me that in case my phone is broker or lost, I can get it replace for free. What he forgot to tell me that it would cost me $50 to replace with the same phone or even more for a new and different phone. I did not find out after my phone was broker and tried to redeem it for a new phone. When I confronted the rep he told me that he did not say that, I should know better what insurance means. I would never buy that stupid insurance $4.95 each month. That over $25 in the past 5 months. For what to pay even more to get a replacement?
2. Today I contacted customer service trying to cancel my phone. Customer service told me that I had a bill $81 to pay first before she can cancell my service. I have to pay for the entire month of July plus something else but if I decided to remain a customer then she can waive my monthly fee $55.14 so I can go get me a new phone and continue my service with them next month. I had no service since the end of June. My phone would not even work. Charged me for a service I did not even use. They can waive a fee but yet they can not even replace my phone to allow me continuing service with them.
3. Cricket did not even provide a phone bill statement. If you did not ask they are not going to provide it. They Also turned off the service at the begginning of each cycle if you did not pay your monthly fee. Because you did not pay, you have not service and yet they still charged you for the service as if you have used it. What happens if you have to travel outside of your coverage area for several month? What do they mean by no contract? There is still a contract because I have to pay in order to cancel my service with them.
I will never again sign up for a monthly cellular phone company: I tried (ROR REDACTED NAMES OF COMPETITORS) and all I have bad experiences with them: broken or lost phone they automatic locked you again for another contract years. They purposely let you to exceed your minutes so they can make a better profit out.
So the touch screen about your minutes usage in your phone was not even accurate until they sent you the bill
I found out that the best way to go will be with pre-paid, pay as you go. They have better customer services and you don't have to worry about them sending your a bill that you owed them such and such if you exceed few minutes of your plan. 45 cent per minutes. Ridiculus!
I have been using (COMPETITOR REDACTED) to travel outside of my coverage area and forgot several times to top up my minutes, I still kept my phone number and just added more minutes. (COMPETITOR REDACTED) is not bad either. Only 10 cent per minute usage, you can refill anytime, the phone screen lets you see your usage. You have 60 to 90 days to refill your minutes. The service connection is the same as the other companies and sometimes the phone is even cheaper. No worry to have a large bill, your service cancelled, no taxes, no insurance and no toll charges added to your monthly service. When there is better phones and services you have more option to chose than stuck to a 2 year contract.
