My Husband had received a letter from a collection agency called West Asset Management, Inc (Sherman, TX) stating that we owed $xxxx to Nco/Assignee Of Verizon W and that they are contracted to collect the balance. They offered us to pay only 65% of the outstanding balance if we paid within 15 days or so.
Obviously we have kept our records and we don't owe anybody anything and we kept quiet. From that day onwards, we keep getting a phone call around 4:15 PM everyday with the automated message telling us about the socalled "debt" and asking us to call them at 1 866 302 0858.
If we really owed them any money, why would they settle for less?
The worst part is this is affecting my credit report and I saw that they had somehow made this into my credit history and is affecting my credit.
I am really at a loss as to how to correct that piece of it. If you have suggestions, please let us know.
