My wife bought Sirius a few months before x-mas for me, she inquired at the store about HOWARD STERN and only HOWARD STERN. She was informed by the clerk it would receive him without a problem.
I got the receiver at x-mas, and activated it. I get all channels BUT Howard Stern, who is the only reason I wanted the item. I contact Sirius Canada and they said I would need an American subscription and they THINK a PO box address would be sufficient. I took that information and called Sirius America to verify. A man named Angel (in customer service) said all I would need is a USA PO Box and I can get the subscription no problem and I would receive Howard Stern in Canada.
So a friend and I travelled four hours away to Detroit, from Toronto, to buy a PO Box. I bought the box for $40 and called Sirius to activate. It activated but I still don't get Howard's channels, the receiver skips over his stations 100 & 101. All the other channels work fine.
Forrest from Sirius America's Warranty dept now tells me I will need to go BACK to Detroit and BUY another Sirius receiver because the ones bought in Canada deliberately blocked channels 100 & 101.
I can not go back to Detroit because I am out of cash from spending the following;
$15 (USA) USA activation fee
$40 (USA) PO Box
$80 gas to drive to USA
$75 (USA) to cancel useless Sirius subscription
$80 hotel stay for the night
Sirius Canada stands by their product when they say Howard "is coming to Canada soon". Everytime I call them they state a different date when he will arrive. What I don't understand is even if he DOES come to Canadian receivers, how will we RECEIVE him if those channels are BLOCKED??? They would have to recall all units.
This is so rediculous. Howard is almost not worth all this trouble. If I was told from the beginning I would have worked this out a little better. I wasn't told until my last phone call to Rob (Sirius USA refunds) that there was any difference between Canadian and USA units EVEN THOUGH I specifically asked that question every time I spoke to any about Sirius.
