Makes unacceptable excuses for delaying rebates, ripoff

I purchased a hard drive on 5/30 at Fry's Electronics, 2 rebates at $30 each were offered. I sent all required docs for both rebates in two separate envelopes as instructed. I received an e-mail 7/22 stating rebate request was received.

I received one of the checks on 8/4 within the timeline stated but no 2nd one had been received as of 8/12. I contacted WD at 866-327-8352, spoke to a rep who stated the 2nd rebate request had been received 8/2 and was in process to take another 3 to 6 weeks. That is unacceptable since both were mailed the same day, yet one is going to take 3 to 6 weeks longer.

I then spoke to a supervisor that stated the reason for the delay is that they have no control over the US Postal Service. I refuse to accept that any piece of 1st Class mail would take 9 weeks to be received. I was then told that they receive thousands of these and they aren't always able to process them on time, therefore changing her story since I didn't accept her 1st answer.

I feel that if a company is not staffed properly, or whatever any other reasons offered may be, that the timeframes should be stated as such on the rebate forms instead of fooling the customer into purchasing an item that offers rebates that are not processed in a timely manner. The customer would then have an option of purchasing the product elsewhere that may be able to process the rebates within the stated timeframes.
