Pay Telephone outside airport wouldn't accept change. Took a chance with a calling card. Never got any "branding" as to who was intercepting my local toll call (phone# was terminating at office bldg. 60 feet away!).
The number rings 3 times and then there is a double click and then just a hollow sound. I hang up and call the operator of the payphone.
I then proceeded to tell her;that having been cheated in the past, would she please tell me if the phone I was currently using to communicate to her with was registering an incomplete or complete call originating 3 minutes ago.
She said she was incapable of accessing that information.
"Really? That's odd!"I said innocently. "Well then would you please tell me if a call has been charged to my calling card."
"What's the number?"she asked.
I read her the card number and she then said that she couldn't access that information either.
"Why not?"I dimly muttered.
"Because that is not our card"
"Well sure it is"I obtusely continued"It says SBC right on the front."
"We are not SBC we are #*&@ %...*^$!
